makes me laugh, I've just had to defend my self against a member on another thread telling me and others that buying a JPU won't make you cue straight. Yet so many on here are blaming John's new cue for him missing??? Has John's TW stop him cuing straight or pushing through the ball? you can't have it both ways. John is in bad form simple, he miss a red in the middle and he simply quit on the shot. I notice other flaws in his cuing as well. John will be back just needs more table time.

HI Johns cue is pretty good now he made a 147 in The Shanghai Masters 2012 and was losing 7 frames to 2 frames but came back winning 10 frames to 9 frames. Poor Trump he deserved to win. Higgins is a fighter and never gave up a true Champion,

To be fair hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time during the PTC and the PL when I first saw him with it I can't ever recall him missing so many long pots and his safety was quite average too. Obviously he has tinkered a little with the cue and now has it adjusted to suit his game. His confidence is now up and thus he's getting results, albeit with a fair bit of rub along the way.

Yes nobody can expect too pick up a new cue and knock in centuries not even john higgins. It's good to see him back to some form after a bad season.

Do you believe a JPU will help you cue straight? Or (hopefully) I have picked up your post wrongly?

i recall ROS in a TV interview once and he remarked that he can pick up a racker and knock in centuries within 3 frames. When asked by the interviewer why he couldn't do the same, ROS said that 'you can't do everything in this world' or something to that. Golden line had everyone clapping. lol

I was watching it live when John Higgins made his 147 in frame 6, it was really a cracker! To be able to compose himself after losing 5 frames in a row and missing some easy pots in between, it showed how tough he is mentally! Congratulations to Higgins for winning the Shanghai Master 2012. Judd Trump wavered towards the end.

I just heard the after match interview of Higgins on worldsnooker.com, and although the reporter mentions him changing his cue, Higgins ignores it and gives credit to his focus as the reason to his performance. I mean to play a 147 at the final and perform so well and pot the balls he potted and only after a couple of months of owning that new cue... I'd say it's definitely a main reason in him playing so well, so why did he choose not to credit the cue not the cue maker???

It wasn't the cue that made him bang on form again, more so in the mind!
Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

agreed - higgins would be capable of winning with any cue.

At least now he has "christened" his new cue with a competetive maximum and a Tournament win - there will be no question of him putting any poor performances down to his new cue now -not that I think he ever would anyhow -he could probably beat most of us with a broom handle if it had a decent tip - if only I could say the same for myself. Higgins is a joy to watch when he plays at top of his game - for me the best I have ever seen.
