  • new to the forum. looking for a one piece cue

so yea, hi guys whats up.

im looking for a new one piece cue for around 120£ while im reasonable at snooker ive only ever had one cue (im only 20) and i know very little about what to look out for when buying a cue. ive been looking for some bargin on ebay but its tough when i dont really know alot about cues. i nearly got stung recently on ebay but luckily my mate spotted something poor about the cue (not that i understood why) and said def dont pay that much for it.

so any help in what to look for would be brilliant.

and if you have or know of any one piece cues for my price range please let me know. but im trusting you wont take advantage of my lack of knowledge lol

    thank any help hugely appreciated

welcome to TSF, as asked, where approximately are you based, that may help where you could get a new cue
Do you remember what your mate thought was "poor" about you old cue?
I am sure that someone may have a 1pc cues in that range but if you can extend your budget a bit more your choice will expand as well

        im based in Exeter, Devon

my mate thought the wood looked pretty cheap poor grade although the grain was really good.

if i found something i really liked id be able to stretch to 150 maybe a little more.

doesnt Have to be ash but its preferable, if there was a nice maple piece then i would def be interested

there are other members from that area
But I dont think there are any good cue-shops that you can pop-along to and try out a selection and get a feel for what suits you.
Maybe a local member may know of any clubs or shop that have a reasonably selection.
I think that the nearest could be Bristol, where I vaguely recall there could be a good shop - anyone?
What are the cue specs you looking for? length (in), ferrule (mm), weight (oz), that will help possible sellers
          cheers

oh and it wasnt my old cue he thought was poor, it was one on ebay that i was considering buying and i asked his opinion at the last minuet and he said to be very careful. he thought it was liek a bce replica or something and would likely been poor grade wood. think thats what he said

                length 57/58 in ferrul 9.5 weight 18.5-19.5

so pretty standard specs i think. ideally maybe slightly shorter cue on the 57in but 58 isnt a problem, i play alot of pool and i think my pool cue is like 56in (possibly) its a really nice cue used it for snooker alot too but the tip is 8mil.

i like quite a stiff cue too something with a solid feel

                  i did find this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPERB-1pc...ht_2672wt_1271

that ADR is selling looks like a lovely cue fits what im looking for almost perfectly slightly out of my price range tho esp with p&p too, i did make him an offer but hasnt replied to it. seeing this cue has made me come round to the idea of the maple too looks a stunning piece. plus he seems like a straight good guy and VERY knowledgeable but i dont think il be able to offer him enough

p.s not sure weather i should post ebay links on here or not if its against the rules please feel free for a mod to remove it

ADR is here on TSF and is extremely knowledgeable on cues, etc.
He has mentioned before that these Brittania cues are very good cues for the money.

PMs and other functions will appear after 10 or so posts.
ADR is often ok for a deal, especially if no ebay/paypal fees
