I used to have an old Powerglide Panther cue (bought about 20 years ago for £30 when I was at school) it was half ash with the butt end being fully covered with a walnut veneer - looked more like a pool cue I guess. Anyways, got it nicked from the wmc where I play. Asked about powerglide cues on here and the consensus is they aren't what they used to be. I sent an email to Powerglide asking about their pro series and Tournament series of cues.
Got an email back saying..
Sorry to hear about your cue. If you give Dean a ring at B&W Billards they
have been doing the making and selling of powerglide cues for some time now
and should be able to give the advice required. 01384 ******

The luckiest thing happened to me at work on wednesday, the lads at work know im a cue collector and when clearing out one of the old store cupboards found three old cues, two of them were crappy pub cues, but one was a handspliced burroughes and watts square badged mascot cue, one of the splices is damaged on the butt and its quite bend but im going to get it restored to its former glory, i felt like it deserved to be restored after apparently never seeing daylight for 20 years.
Ive applied 5 coats of wooldridge cue oil to it and its sucked ever coat right up so it must havve been very dry.
Looks great now thought, especially the stripey ebony butt.Rocket Ronnie Rules!!!

My Cue Parris Elite
Hi the cue that I have just bought is a Parris Elite the spec is as follows:
58.5 inches long
10mm ferrule
18.3/4 ozs
Its a nice cue but I have only had it a couple of weeks and it is so different from my last cue which was a Dragon cue made by Dragon Cues in Neath.
The Dragon cue was 19.5 ozs and the balance point was at 16 inches where the Parris cue is at 17 inches, and I find the balance better with the Parris but I am struggling a bit with a lack of power in distance screw shots.
Just need a bit more time with the cue.

I use an old handspliced plain ebony butt with a new 3/4 ash shaft. The butt is very old and 32.5mm wide across the badge. It is just under 58.5" long, 17.5 oz, with a 9.4mm. The cue is joined at 17.5" and balances at 17". Plays really well and is very responsive.

robert osborne black plate
i had a riley tombstone ash shaft that i used for years but like a numpty i got it but jointed, totally diffirent cue after that, tried the following.
craftsman 147 made centuries but always blamed cue when i had a bad game.
parris champion.elite, paragon, traditional but apart from paragon found them too whippy.
the paragon was a beauty but got an s.d. joint put in and as i only use a 17 ounce cue the balence was badly thrown off by having a brass weight clagged on end which is what the joint amounted to. thing was being bought up in the club before telescopic stick on things came into fashion was always canny with the half butt.
after that came a omin, burwat champion, two tony ions(like playing with a metal bar and i do like stiff cues),a wooldridge, and then got offered a osborne from former pro richy macdonald.
but jointed 57 and a quarter inches long, just over 17 ounces 9.1 mil tip ash shaft only 4 arrows up shaft gave it a try and have never really looked back apart from still having a desire to go back to a once piece cue(old git see stuck in the past).
anyway wife payed for this one so have to stick with it i supposeCraftsman custom made cue

My cue is a BCE, Alex Higgins, Heavy.
I bought it 20 years ago for about 40 pounds. Even in those days that was considered to be pretty cheap for a cue. It's just a simple two-piece, but I wouldn't miss it for the world. It had more tips than a headwaitress, I must confess, but as long as I'm able to hit a couple of centuries now and then with it, that's good enough for me.
