  • Chalara fraxinea fungus

I was reading that this fungus has caused devastation in Denmark, killing >90% of the countiy's ash trees,

and that some trees outside the nursery stock have been found with the disease in East Anglia.

Wondered what the cue makers on here think of the short and long term impact will be for them ?

I doubt very little because the majority of ash is from North America. Obviously it could lead to a wider issue if this were to spread but as they are on to the problem I should imagine they will find a solution.

This is a much bigger problem for North American ash.......

There are huge parts of the USA where logging is prohibited because of it. It's getting to be a real nasty issue.

Yes, I stumbled across that when looking ( ok googling ) into the Chalara fraxinea.

Seems the baseball bat manufacturers are concerned . . which I think is bigger perhaps than cue manufacturers in the U.S.
