  • Just ordered a new cue!

After much deliberation, I have decided to go with my heart and order a John Parris cue. I spoke with John and he indicated that, unlike the case with 'Ultimate' and 'Special' variations, the more standard cues have a waiting list of c.8 weeks at the moment. I was watching a couple on eBay as I thought the waiting lists were much longer (they are for the more 'rare' models) but would rather wait a couple of months and pay a little extra to be sure of the provenance of the cue I was getting and also to get the spec to suit me.

Really looking forward to the new year and a new cue!

Well done in your research and background checks, etc., BUT you forgot the important part of this posting, what cue did you order, what spec, etc.?

      edit: oops, too slow

        Ha ha! Sorry guys!

        I have gone for a 'Supreme Cue'. 57" with a 9.5mm tip and 18.75oz.

Why 18.75oz I hear you all ask?

Well, my current cue, a Master Cue Millenium that I got about 10 years ago is 18oz but my favourite cue that I had back when I was a promising teenager was a little heavier so I wanted to go a little heavier than it. I had a few shots with a pal's 20oz cue last night and knew that was too heavy. Parris Cues allow you to select down to quarter of an ounce and I was unsure whether to go for 18.5 or 19 so split the difference!

I have ordered the SD joint at the butt and telescopic and mini extensions.

I'm quite sure it won't materially change my game but I have always wanted one and even a 1% improvement from a better shaft would be a bonus!

I popped in to Parris Cues this morning as I was in London on business. I had a nagging doubt about the weight I put on my order. I knew that they had started working on my cue as the status of my order changed and I guessed if I wanted to tweak the spec I better shout quickly!

Must say JP is a very nice chap indeed and he has a lot of very nice cues in the shop. I had a hit with 3 cues - one at 18oz, one at 18.75oz and one at 19.25 oz. They all had a lovely feel about them tbh but I liked the 18.75oz the best so no changes made to my order.

With a fair wind, I may get my new toy before Christmas!
