Many mass produced cues have there splices over painted to hide whats underneath whether its bad splicing, filling or cracks or even poor ebony. these pics are of a powerglide purist that ii have been asked to re finish, normally i would not strip these back, but as this cue has been left in an attic and the lacquer has shrunk back i agreed to do it. i will post more pics later at different stages. i just hope that its ok underneath. i did have a painted BCE cue once that had some chips out of it so i stripped it back as they were too big to cover up and underneath was a nice hand spliced cue!! don't know why BCE did this but the customer was well pleased!! You can tell if the cue has been painted over as you cannot see the natural grain
