That's quite alot of throw on that cue, I think that's why Jimmy has gone to a new one. Less throw today

Oh no ! not that bollocks again nrage. Let it go, it doesn't happen and even if that high speed camera detects some, it's to such a minute degree that it makes no difference at all to the shot.
It's the cue ball that matters, how it behaves when struck with side and how much YOUR OWN CUE DEFLECTS IT WHEN STRIKING IT WITH SIDE.
Play the cushion exercise I mentioned earlier and find out what your own cue does to the cue ball and just allow for it rather than filling your head with this "throw" nonsense and then buying a low deflection cue to make you a better player thus fulfilling the mandate of those bloody videos you keep linking to, because that's all they're doing, selling you something you don't need.

You're confused again, please read what I actually wrote. I am in no way suggesting that people take "spin transfer" (or "throw") into account, in fact I'm not even suggesting it exists. All I'm telling you (anyone who reads this) are the terms Dr Dave uses, and for what, so no-one is confused when they read his articles or go looking for information on the site I linked.

            Man, now you're really confused.

            1) I don't have a "low" deflection cue, I don't recommend anyone get a "low" deflection cue. As Mike has said in a previous thread .. the feel is all wrong with a "low" deflection cue, this is my opinion also.

            2) I'm not confused about throw and I don't need to do the cushion exercise you mentioned - as I already know the result with my cue. It is a good exercise for anyone who is tho, as I mentioned earlier.

            3) The videos I am linking are not "selling" anything. Dr Dave is a physics professor at a university and his only goal here is understanding the physics of cue sports, not selling low deflection cues.

            4) As someone posted earlier, pool tables differ from snooker tables, pool balls differ from snooker balls, and some of the effects may also differ - this is worth keeping in mind when trying to understand what's going on. That doesn't mean Dr Dave is wrong/right and you are wrong/right, you're probably both "right" to some extent.

But, you'll forgive me if I take his word over yours when it comes to the physics of cue sports and what really happens on the table. He has high-speed video and technical proof of the effects he describes, you've got what exactly?

            5) No-one, myself included should be thinking about any of this when they're actually playing/practicing snooker. And, despite what you've suggested in the past, I'm not suggesting anyone starts to try to.

Personally, unless something happens which I'm not expecting I don't think about it at all, I just play my game. As I've said elsewhere knowledge like this helps to evaluate what happens and learn, to train the unconscious/subconscious mind to use the things you've learned to play the game.

Can you please read and understand this so we can move past it.

Edit: To avoid kicking off some big argument and diverting this thread I wont be replying to you in this topic again. Feel free to express your feelings on the matter but after that I'm calling it quits. Us arguing over this here isn't going to actually help anyone.

He's done that a few times, theres a video of him doing an exhibition with Alex Higgins from 3 or 4 years back, he misses the century and the cue gets flung. Still waiting to see this new cue of his, the one he has currently is the same one he's been using since around 1999.
