Nice idea on the charity cue. I know l It's a bit of extra work but it might be an idea to offer choice of length and tip size (smaller and shorter not larger and longer). I know it's dangerously close to a custom order but they'd know what the shaft looks like already and it might generate a bit more interest for charity.
I know it's not quite so simple from your point of view as your the one that has to actually do it and I only have to type it but just an idea.

His work is superb, And a really nice guy. At the end of the day how many UK cue maker's would invite you to there workshop? Not many. Keep up the good work Raymond, Look forward to dealing with you again:snooker:
Had a look at George's new cue from Rayomond last night and all i can say is...superb !
for the price it is well on parr with any of the so called top cue makers...even splices quality ash shaft with nice cheverons..better than some Ultimates i have seen on here recently...keep up the good work raymond...sorry i ever doubted your work !

Maybe go down Exile's route of offering a custom cue up to value of £xxx .

I know you don't really do custom at the moment, but be good for the charity, and could even mention
the charity on the badge .

Isn't there old cues that refer to a charity ? or is my mind playing tricks again ?

            • blimey this is quite a thread! a few points i would like to make if that ok.

              1) cues should be judged on what the cue builder sends you nothing else. you pay for the makers skill in sending you the completed product all the stuff about hand plaining shafts etc is drivel, it makes no difference to the final product.

              2) the stocks required to build cues for a living are hugely expensive, trevor just spent the price of a bmw on ebony!

              3) many people on this forum know each other from the real world as well, i personally know many of you. it is not as if raymond only exists online!

              4) taking custom orders is a very dangerous game unless you are well established and several have tried to do it and failed. look what happended to dan shelton, the problem was not his ability to make cues.

              5) i have personally supplied materials to raymond that could only be used if you were making cues, as i have to many cue makers.

That's the beauty of doing this as a hobby only. ALL of my work is custom orders. I don't have time to do off the shelf cues so the ones I make as customs take up all my time anyway. Every time I start what I think will be an off the shelfer, someone comes along and says that they want it but can you add this, this and this.

If you're going to do a charity cue too I'd recommend using just giving as I did. It was really easy and simple to set up.

I take it true black ebony comes with a premium? Sounds like he ordered a truckload of it.

                    • One other thing i'd like to add, i didn't think it was fair to speculate without any facts, non factual comments can damage someones livelihood, okay with any job your going to get people who take shortcuts, but with well respected members who personally can vouch for Raymo it would be hard to believe he doesn't do all his own work!
