Joint comes loose when playing

Hi,

I have a problem with my cue. After some (10?) shots, the joint always comes loose.
I can't upload a photo, but is't a joint that looks like the one you see in http://sharpsnooker.com.au/wp-conten...er-joint-1.jpg

Anyone ever experienced the same problem? How can it be solved?
I already tried to clean the joint, and put a little drop of oil in it, but it still comes loose... help

Looks like a quick release type joint, all you can do is really tighten it together ??

I'dsuggest loctite threadlocker but then you'd have a 1 piece forever more :P
(Please don't do that to a cue anybody)...

What brand cue is it?

I would have though just tightening it manly style is the only option...

Are you left handed as these types of joints can be a problem with left handed players due to the way the hand moves when playing the shot.

I would have though just tightening it manly style is the only option...

It's a Hunt & O'Byrne green plate, made in the 90s.

How hard I tighten it, doesn't matter, it always comes loose....

I don't think you'd need to exert much force to screw on the butt if the joint fits properly.

Maybe you can try switching hands and see if that happens, or let someone who is right handed play a frame with your cue.

you need to joint that is not a quick release! like those used by dave coutts, robin cook, trevor white, mike wooldridge, john parris

Louise would it be possible to get a picture of the joints that your husband uses in his cues? I have been considering getting a joint in my cue for some time, i had work done on a previous cue by dave and was more than happy with his work so would send to him if i like the look of the joint

Apparently, putting a drop more oil in the joint does miracles... I played 4 frames against myself during my lunch break, and I only had to tighten it once. Already a lot better
