John Parris Ultimate cue price increase!

Might reduce the orders so he can actually get some cues made.

Makes sense really. Also it will stop the likes of Fedia purely buying them to sell them on for profit, though knowing that idiot he'll probably see it as an opportunity to charge more for his current cues as he probably has a few others on order from JP. He listed 2 new Ultimates last week on Ebay again, don't know how many times he has said he's selling because he doesn't play anymore, he's been using that line for the past 2 years and still orders more cues.

I hope it will speed the current waiting time up a bit!...I see on one of Fedias Jpu ebay cue listings it's 2 and a half years at the moment!

The market says otherwise - 12 month+ waiting times and an Ultimate in hand and for sale easily sells for significantly more than the new price.

Easy way to make money for anyone who buys to sell on.

JPU cues always have and will no doubt have great resell value I'm still a little surpised by £120 price jump! the Special and Paragon cues have also gone up but not by so much.

Paying that Kind of money for a plain ebony cue is simply insane. Lots to do with snob value attached with the cue. Most people buy these cues simply to flaunt it. This is my observations and may not neccessarily hold true for everyone. It just boggles the mind why one would seriously spend that kind of money without trying out a cue if one wishes to obtain asetriously good playing cue. Having bought many cues over the last 4 years i can honestly say that 80% were not what I would consider as a cue that suited me irrespective of the maker. Of the other 20% just two stood out amongst all others. And that is from over 40 odd cues in the last 4 years. Coming back full circle anyone who spends that kind of money on a cue without trying is either too rich, just a snob wanting to brandish his new wand in front of everyone or both.

Sanman have you considered that JP is struggling to meet demand? He is literally snowed under with orders around the world and if people are happy to buy the Ultimates starting at £636 then paying an extra £120 whilst it will put off some he will still have a lot of orders. I think part of the increase is due to demand, it will slow down the orders and the most important thing with the Ultimate range is you don't rush them and make sure the quality is right. Continuing the way he was I think that quality was going to be sacrificed in order to rush through the backlog with many moaning about the waiting times. I also think many cue makers will be raising their prices in the new year.

I don't even think its people showing off or having too much money. Its been said on here countless times in the past that snooker is a relatively cheap sport and getting the right cue is as much a psychological thing as it is about the quality of the cue itself. What about people who have bought 2 or 3 Trevor White cues or MW cues etc, the cost of buying up those is more than an Ultimate and at least the resale value is all but guaranteed and in many cases you can make a profit due to waiting times.

Whether any cue is worth the money or not isn't really an issue. There is so much choice on the market today that they are all capable of getting a good share of it.

For the record I have a JPU on order since September as I have played my best stuff with a Parris cue, despite buying up other cues and playing well with them I just feel personally that Parris gets the best playing shafts I've ever used and I don't mind paying a premium for that. I didn't buy it to show off with, I don't need to show off as I can knock in centuries with any cue and have done so many many times. I know what I want in a cue and know the dimensions that suit me, all I have to do is adapt to the cue when it comes. Whether it replaces my existing JP or not I don't know, I hope it suits me better but either way its not a gamble. If I don't like it I'll keep it with the other cues as a back up and if I ever I fall short of money I'll sell it at a profit, win win for me and anyone else who has got or waiting to get a JPU before this week who got it at a now bargain price!

I also have found that I have played my best snooker/pool with a Parris cue so I desided to go for a jpu. if dont get on with it I should at least get the money I paid for it back. :snooker:

He should just do what Mike does and stop taking orders for ultimate grade cues so they have time to catch up, someone said on here a while back that he was told theyre having problems finding shafts that would be considered good enough for Ultimates. Don't see why stopping orders for a while isnt a viable option as it would only really affect the top end cue, and surely theyre in the minority of orders compared to the cheaper end of the range?

Just checked the parris webiste and the price of a plain ebony 3/4 ultimate is back down to £672, possiblly an error on the price that is now rectified? A few mins ago in cuebuilder "special" was showing up for £360 in 3/4 ebony spec, something up with the site possibly.

Checked again and ultimate back upto £756....

The Parris Collection range seem to have gone down in price. I'm sure the Majestic cue used to be over £500, now £422. Some of the others seem lower in price, not sure what their prices were before though.

Something must be wrong with the site, the prices have went up and down a few times in the last few minutes on some cues.

Nice time for a bump and I'm sure there will be a few pages worth of hate when you now find an Ultimate starts at....... £876. A 1pc now carries a premium of £60 extra too which is also going to cause some controversy. So glad I ordered my Parris in 2012, for the paltry sum of £716. Now the same cue is over £1000 so as I suspected when I ordered it, they are almost an investment and I'm sure many have ordered them with that in mind.
