  • Cue making advise...

Right lads i'm gonna have a go at a bit of splicing on an old cue i have and was wondering which size plane to buy...Should i go for something like a no 4 or is it easier with a longer one such as a no 6..Thanks in advance Karl.

I use a number 7 which has a good bit of weight behind it and also a long sole!
But I also have a number 6 which I like also.
You will pick one up on eBay!
A nice record plane or Stanley!
I got one for £50 luckily.
You could spend more and go for a lie neilson
      Which look very well made.

i use an old wooden 18 ins block plane, but the best plane for a cue maker as to be the 4 ins for the finishing and a very sharp blade

Yes i too use others(a no.6 and a block plane) i think the no.7 is best for planing cue straight.
