Parris have confirmed they do use African Ebony on all parris cues.

What confused me was The opinion on the net was that, with maccasar being brown and streaky it was less favourable and the African ebony was harder to get and much more expensive. A fact appearingly proved on the Dunns website where Cue sets made from Gabon ebony are approx £30 dearer than the sets made with maccasar butts.

Its more down to the fact that jet black ebony is hard to come by and most people don't want to specifiy a black ebony butt and recieve a cue with brown tinges in the ebony. About 15 years ago or so it was much easier to get the really black ebony, these days though with asian cue makers (and forgers) in full swing theres much less of it to go around and its being sold to the highest bidder, most of which seem to be in China currently.
