Turpin Cues

Hi everyone,

I have a one piece maple Turpin snooker cue which I haven't used in 2 years and was enquiring into if they are valuable ??? Still in great condition just not used as I have got a parris now.

Would anyone be able to help me ? Would be very much appreciated

Turpin cues were the forerunner to Stamford cues , if memory serves me correctly.Not seen many for sale , but they seem to be sought after by collectors and players alike.Value wise , exactly what someone is prepared to pay based on condition and whether it is for a collection or to be used as a playing cue.Last one I saw was a 3/4 and the seller was looking at £250 - £350 , there are other TSF members who may be able to value the cue more accurately.

I have a 3/4 ash Turpin full black ebony butt previous owner was Jack lisowski he used it through his amateur years . Lovely cue in mint condition

Well, if you prefer a Parris (!) cue to this Turpin, they can't be worth much! :highly_amused:

Wonder what the Stamford waiting list is like considering Ding uses one of their cues and the Chinese seem to be mental about snooker. Its weird he hates cues with badges on them, there's a gallery on the Stamford site showing work being done to his cue and selbys cue and his cue has a flat with no badge. i remember Dave Coutts putting a post up saying something along the lines of he refused to make one without a badge, don't remember all the ins and outs of it but i 'm near sure it was either Ding, or one of his reps that contacted him about having one made.

Probably Ding's manager made the enquiry as at that time it seems his manager made many enquiries with many cue makers
As Selby and Ding have had their cues for many years (so much so that both needed refurbished jobs - both videos were on the Stamford website) I think the long waiting list has settled a bit - but last time I asked they were about 6 months for a Series 1 cue, probably more now

Dings talking out his arse if he think's he can feel a badge, especially one that has a flush perspex cover to it.

There is a series 1 on ebay but the grain is a bit "meh" considering its meant to be along the same lines as an ultimate in terms of look. Then again ronnies ultimate looks like a rack cue but its the type of grain he likes, could be the same thing for the one on ebay.
