  • How do you take care of your cue(s)?

Since I've joined here I've caught the cue bug, though with that comes my curiosity of how the community on here look after their loved ones, any oil or waxes regularly used? I personally feel a light raw linseed oil every half year, then in between that if it gets sticky a lightly damp wipe and dry buff. So what's your preference?

even just once a year would do.
and the gentle wipe down very now-n-then works wonders.

If it wasn't for this forum I'd probably have my cues in a sticky mess. Do you ever experiment with cue wax?

Hi Dean , remember somewhere that Trevor White said that is all you should have to do .

I've never applied anything since .

A good rub of the shaft is fine
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

          Hi Neil
          yep I do.
But I do feel that the protecting coating needs reapplying at some point and I don't like the feel of "dry" shaft.
A very light application infrequently does my cues well.

Oiled mine once in 4 years
Good finish should last without you doing much to it surely?
Certainly I think it's so long before I really have to worry about it I don't mind sending it away to a cuemaker once every 5 years or so.

How often would you rub your shaft?

When I bought my first handmade cue trev mentioned it shouldn't need touched again, but I guess all cue makers have their own logic.

Yes I can imagine Steve would service his shaft regularly ^ lol

Does anyone dabble with wax? I'm wondering what the process is of keeping a cue waxed long term?
