re finish my cue issues

Hi im looking to apply some linseed oil to my cue, should i use some very fine sand paer all down the cue before applying? i have an exotic wood butt on it so was just a bit worried about using sandpaper on that area

Unless the surface of the cue has some marks that you need to use sandpaper to remove, generally you dont need to use any sandpaper before oiling your cue.
Use a very lightly damp cloth or kitchen paper first to remove dirt/chalk from the whole cue, dry thoroughly.
Then apply the smallest amount of oil to the whole cue (I use kitchen paper towel as I know it is lint free).
Use a clean dry piece of cloth/towel to remove any excess of oil from the whole cue.
Allow to dry.
When dry, buff with dry clean cotton cloth. all should be good.
For future care, alwasy have clean hands , use a dry cotton cloth to buff the cue often. and hopefully oiling should not be required for some time. see below link.

If you do use sandpaper, "very fine" in the shops can still be quite rough (in my opinion), you must remember to clean the surface off to remove any sawdust before you apply the oil.
If you use very (very ) sandpaper it should not affect your exotic wood.

theres a very good one that tescos have its called "wood silk" non silicone based i dont use it on my TW (purely for the fact i kepp that in top condition through regular care) - but when cleaning up the club cues where i go i use that on them and does a very good job for the price as well £1.99 bor a can of it

Be careful withthe linseed oil. I recently had a bad experience with. Instead I just used Mike Woolridge' cue Oil and it is really perfect. the finish is really top noth, silky smooth.

Sex shop lube is the nuts! Never looked back since.. I think you can buy it in boots or sainsburys as well
