All but the stripes I'm afraid Jim. Although I do think the stripes would look ok on a plain ebony cue :snooker:

Interesting front splice , Jim , personally I would prefer to lose the " humbug " and return the splice to plain ebony or highly figured cocobolo. I dont think the coco would get lost against the butt because the alternating veneers are wide enough to separate it. Love the way you are not afraid to experiment though.

the front splice was something i liked from the davis and sidney smith cues, thought i would try it with the black n white ebony because its black n white prob with the white maybe yellowed a bit it might work, would have left all alone but the b&white had few cracks that couldnt fill to make right, think you might be right a plain ebony or a ebony with another piece of black n white not as pronounced.

Dont forget the Victoria Mannock , Jim. I too like the design and see where you are coming from and I would never discourage you from experimenting . How about a piece of Pale Moon , as long as it is not too deeply figured ?

I quite like it, although the top of the humbug looks a little odd, would look better capped by the ebony as it were.

That would definately work . Please dont give up on the " humbug " especially if its a design you like. Seen a black and white humbug Craftsmans once and have seen with green stripes and red stripes . I think there is scope to try different ideas out using coloured veneers or how about Pau Amarello ( Brazillian Satinwood ) it varies from pale lemon to quite bright yellow and there is another one that Kev Muncaster showed me once that is bright orange.I cant remember what it was and it stains your hands when you work it , but just think , you could create your own series of Gold, ( orange or yellow ) , Silver ( Holly) or Bronze ( Goldfield burr ) " humbug " cues . They could be graded according to shaft quality and would be totally unique to you as a cue maker.
