  • Cue straightening... the cue cooker

Since I was doing some wallpapering stripping anyway, and I had an old Joe Davis 147 cue with a bad bend and which needed refinishing, I thought I'd give straightening it myself a go! Apologies for the mess..

I was a bit concerned about the butt unglueing itself seen as some of the splices were slightly raised already... but the cue came out OK and is now straightened! What's the odds the bugger has moved back in the morning..

Quick question to those who may know - how long would you have given the cue in the "cooker" before straightening it?

Ah... I cooked it for 15 mins, I like it tender! T'wer a doddle to straighten afterwards tho.

Wouldn,t you need to leave it about a month to dry out completely before undong any restraints? Surely it would just pop back to its bent shape else.

P.S. Bet the tip aint half spongey now ha ha

It was still straight this morning, not sure if it's dried yet though.
Actually the tip has gone rock hard! I covered it in some electrical tape to stop it getting wet, but it's turned it into a stone.
