  • What cue to use

Just wanted to ask a nead to practise more so av set myself a target before my next coaching lesson with jim Donnelly to go down to my local club every night after work for one hour so a have two cues my good one piece a got from andy Gibbs and a old two piece cue a have just a cheap £80 cue that sits in my locker so don't want to put good cue in car all day at work so it dusent swell up so is it bad to use my old cue or go home and get good cue or wil playing with old cue do me harm wen a play with good new cue

Could you leave the cue behind bar at club?

        What cue to use

I have never left any of my cues anywhere in a club, locker or behind the bar (worst in my opinion).
I always go home and collect my cue and head to the club.
Luckily it is not out of the way for me to do so.
        Up the TSF! :snooker:

Left mine at a club once , and some bugger used it without my knowledge and dinged the shaft .

Would never leave my cue again , unless I could padlock it .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

This is my cue there are many like it but this one is mine, It is my life I must master it as I must master my life,Without me my cue is useless, without my cue I am useless (This little quote from the U.S.Marines prayer just about sums it up) Dont let anybody get anywhere near your cue OK ! It may be your best mate who sends it crashing to the floor, or some git with sticky beer hands who uses it by mistake down the club,It may be a pain in the neck but my advice keep your cue with you at ALL TIMES dont lean it against the wall at the club PUT IT IN YOUR CASE when your not playing no matter how short the interval (It only takes seconds for a cue to get broken) the the guy who has had 8 pints of John Smiths may do a ballet dance on your cue.

I think if you have a cue you really like then you won't really want to play with anything else as it just won't feel right. Are you able to swap around with cues and not notice any difference?

Its in your mind some pros say they could take a cue of the rack and play well with it others have lost big important matches because they have had to use a replacement cue,You must know in your mind what cue you play the best with stick with that one find some way of keeping it safe, if you are forking out money for coaching use the cue you are most comfortable with,if you have the best tool for the job any mistakes in technique are down to you.

How did the lesson go? Did you do the Fan System for cue ball control?

Yes Stevie I think it's best to get used to one cue and one cue only for snooker, the safest place is always your home, too many thieving pricks about these days...
Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

Wise move sometimes think we have more money than sense with cues and own too many (My self included) would I play better with this cue shall I change ? I have to admit I have in the past even taken two cues down the club and swapped hoping my game would improve dont do it, all you do is give yourself a lot of self doubt, we are all looking for that magic cue and perfect tip when what we should be doing is lots of practise and improving our technique.
