yes they are hard wood so strong and i would make it a round the thickness of your but and it has a chalk bit as well and if you want it a bit bigger is not a problem it has a cue craft sponge in the case as well to protect the cue more will post some pic as soon as i have finished mine

PM me when you've got some ready as I'll be interested. They sound good.

What are the materials you're using, bud?

Strips of hardwood? What thickness etc?

                  Cheers.

you can get latches from seller chesworthsnooker on ebay, and the same size and type of hinges as used on peradon cases from screwfix (part no. 17911 & 28984). All depends on the thickness of wood you are using though.
Good luck with the cases, would like to see some pictures as I also made my first case the other week and its not as easy as it first seems, especially if covering with leather or vinyl.

I'd probably be inclined to use a piano hinge on such a long piece - Would help to stop warping to a certain degree, too, and help with rigidity.

I was going to make a case, too, but by the time you buy all the hardware - Handle, hinges, catches, lock, brass corners, etc, etc, it all becomes a bit expensive ... Still would like to make one for myself, though.

yer can work out alot of money but if you stick to the basics as in just the hinges and clis and use some velcro straps for now you will fine alot of people will like it as to meany cases are the same now and are metal or leather not just wood that has been sprayed and varnished with a name or some thing on it
