got to say not one make is the best.

master cues and cuecraft cues are generally good value, but it depends what you mean by best.........

        Well it's subjective!
The question said best for me Trevor is the best; top quality with a medium price tag!
Ask me best value for money I'd say Craftsman!
Kev Muncaster's not bad value either!
Some might say that a parris ultimates are the best cues around but with them being £500+ I'd say too dear for a stick!

        Who said Riley was best?

i know watford, wasnt having a dig, just more wanting clarity of what "best" the thread starter meant, or if meant all types of best, including value, wood quality etc..

          oh and trevor is good

Well, I'd say also that no 'ONE' maker is best.

I've seen many many cues, some poor, some good, some excellent.

I've built absolutely beautiful cues for players who've owned cues built by just about everyone out there, and, had them state my work has been the best they've ever had....BUT.....I'm sure a number of other makers could say the same thing.

For my money and for what I know and have seen, there are maybe very few who I'd consider on a par with each other, though not all charge the same prices, or have the same waiting times for custom work.

But as with anything, you pay your money and make your choice.

i spose it depends on what you like innit.
i have a pro-cue peradon and i wouldnt swap it for absolutely anything. its the perfect weight and everything. but other peradon cues i may not like.

Impossible to get a definitive answer on that one.

Cues are so subjective and what is great value to one will be shoddy workmanship and aesthetically poor to another, and so, not good value at all.

Not everyone has the same idea of monetry value and some demand very high quality materials, construction and finish on a cue. Without these things in place, they don't perceive any cue to be good value.

As I said, you pay your money and make your choice.

well aggree with trevs1, impossible to answer that. for me i think Peradon Prince is the best cue coz it suits me. below it's the introduction for Peradon cue
Founded in 1885 Peradon, now based in Liverpool England, they are the world's longest established cue manufacturing company who were responsible for the introduction of the handspliced cue.

impossible to answer for me and lots of other people (may be every one) cos I've never played with all the makes of cue and probably never will. form wot I've found out if one cue feels good to you another one of the same make and spec may not feel the same that is probably because no piece of wood is the same

It’s fair to say that no two cues are a like from a cue maker but a cue maker will usually have some consistency in the quality of work!
Some people make more good ones than others and the number of cues made will make a big difference!
Peradon make some great cues but they make so many there will be some great, some bad and a lot of middling!
An individual cue maker is more likely to spend more time being selective over the materials they use I suppose!
I have played with enough of a range of cues to feel that my opinion is worth something but everyone is different!
What I like you may not!

I say Craftsman, but then I am biased as I live practically next door to them!

                            Best Cue Manufacturer

I have been playing snooker for over 15 years and have played with dozens of cues. It's impossible to say which cue manufacturer is the best. But In my opinion John Parris does make some of the best cues.

I've owned over 4 JP cues and the one I play best with is a Ambassador cue which is the second cheapest in his range. This is despite having 2 custom made ultimate cues in ash and maple!

I own 2 osborne cues and have played some of my best snooker with a 2-piece cue which cost only £140.

I also own a master cue and peradon cue which are both not bad but nothing special.

When it comes down to the crunch there is something about a JP cue that gives you extra cue power and less deviation of the cue ball compared to normal cues. However in my experience this is only on some of his cues!

I am trying out a maple mastercraft cue and will see how that goes as I'm not sure what the quality is going to be like, and will get my hands on it in about 1 months time.

So the best cue available? I really believe it doesn't exist as the quality from different manufacturers can vary so so much!

True, JP does make 'SOME' of the best cues, though having said that, I've seen some very good examples of other makers cues which easily stand up to the VERY BEST that Parris has ever done.

By the same token, I have actually seen a 'FEW' J.P. Ultimate's that were so poor that I've been quite frankly amazed they ever left the workshop, they were that bad.

But overall, he's done a lot of very nice work and set the benchmark to which others have been measured. Nowadays however, there are without doubt others that can match parris Ultimates day in day out, and, for less money.
