I like big butts!

Just found this cue in an antique shop today, 35mm butt, 55.75", 17oz with a 10mm unferulled tip, lovely patina to cue and has a really solid hit, just a bit too short!
Specs seem very unusual for a cue of it's obvious age, can anyone shed any light on whether this would be considered rare?

Old but not rare
Billiard cue probably from circa 1890-1920. Not that big a butt to be honest I've had a few around the 40mm mark similar to this cue.
I have an old hand spliced Orme Crest with a 39mm butt in my collection.
On the short side probably worth around £20 tops

So were thick butts the norm in those days, or would it have just been down to personal preference?
