Nice design Andy . My eldest son still has that 3/4 Purple heart and Ebony you made .The front splice and veneer are identical to this , but it is completely Purple heart for the butt , not ebony/ purpleheart alternate.Still plays great as well.

Nope just a dig at me for asking why the cue in the pic Crispian posted was spliced top and bottom first? Eventually got an answer from Andy and fair enough, Nowt wrong with splicing that way I hadn't noticed that he spliced that way with the rest of his cues, only mistake involved was me asking a question on a previous thread.

absolutely, . . . hence the reason I was asking what breaking strain Andy was using ( on his fishing expedition ).

Like you say, fair enough , asked a question, got an answer.

Design is nice, reminds me of Jason's 071 cue ( mr bluejay's originally ? ), alternating splices theme .

          Very nice.

Quite right 71 was mine (In the far east now), but I think you are thinking of the Inman replica, here are the two links...

Aye I know what you were getting at lol

It was a simple question, why splice top and bottom first? Andy answered after id asked a few times that he does it to make sure the splice finger lines up with the chevrons, and asked how I would do it to guarantee the same result? I answered and thanked Andy for answering my question, complimented him on the quality of the only cue of his I've seen in the flesh(a mates cue which id played with) and thought that was the end of it, guess not!! Don't blame Andy at all for being defensive and pissed off. Apologies Andy for asking as I do realise it was disrespectful although not intended to be.

I notice Crispian has went quiet, wonder has he been abducted by the "part makers"..?

Hi Andy, this issue is still being pursued off TSF, but as someone who has been drawn into this discussion and obviously feels the need to have something to say would you like to email me your understanding of the story as you see it - as a cue maker who was brought into question?

                    Email to wtqanda@gmail.com
                    Cheers,
                    Mick

ooh, the plot thickens ... Crispian abducted and Australia's equivalent of the CIA gathering covert evidence ... this would make for a fantastic TV mini-series if we weren't talking about bits of wood ...

This is only for my own knowledge not to stir up anything , I really like Andy and Jason's cues, what in looks is the difference between how Andy does his splicing and what seems to be the UK norm(not the right term). How do you know top splice is done first, is it because the side splice runs all the way down and is the thicker? I would say if I was making a cue and wanted the splice perfectly
straight with the chevrons I would line up the top one first it seems obvious.

Its not a dig at you, there were a few that said that but I had no way of proving that I always do it that way until I came across that photo on sunday, it is a late answer to yours and the others question.
Crispian Jones started the best thread I have seen on TSF but he spoilt it when he wrongly named me.

sadly i think he wrongly names a few people and gets a few 'facts' wrong.

I think that it's absolutely disgusting that he hasn't had the courage to come back here and explain himself. Especially to Andy!

I think what he did and said was both stupid from a business point of view and largely wrong in that I don't think anybody mentioned actually makes all their cues like this, he also drops me in it after i invest a lot of money with him by expecting me to sell cues at a loss!! but crispian is a decent guy and a decent craftsman who has some serious family issues just now that I suspect are clouding his judgement.
