  • Re- weighting cue

    Hi

I'm thinking of getting my cue getting additional weight. can any of the cuemakers give me a brief explanation of what the alteration will entail. I'm worried that the alteration will cause damage to base joint/ base area. If the process is likely to cause problems I probably wont go ahead with it.

    Thanks for help.

It goes without saying that the brass joint will be removed and an oz or so shoved up the back leaving the cue feeling slightly more back heavy.
Saying that it depends on how much you wanted added and how far up the weight you have in there at the moment is. What balance point you desire and so on.. Might even need to do an additional four spices to get it how you want.

Not easy to say without looking at it. I suggest going to your nearest cue services.

thats not really the only way to weight a cue.there are other ways but a certain amount of woodcraft would be needed.

Has anyone experimented with 'temporary' weight additions to a cue - perhaps small lead collars around the butt of the cue?

heres an idea for you buy some 10mm dia mother of pearl dots, drill into your butt with a 10mm dia forster bit, part fill hole with lead and then put mother of pearl dots on top and sand down to blend in,also decorates butt at same time

One of the older pool players ( Davie Linton ) did that with his cue Jim and played very successfully for years with it, bit of a weapon though at 22ozs.

I knew that he went there but not sure if he still was. A smashing player in his day think he was a UK professional champion. He was a big help to me when I started making cues.
