                  • I had several emails from Nong, always polite and willing to help, i see you are getting a mini butt too, from memory is it a small spiro type joint ?? if so i think it was the Niche/Maximus extension that fitted

I like Mike's butt design, so I sand the flat section to make it more smooth, that's suitable for hand.
after oil finish, the ebony go black deeper.
cue is good for playing, even it's looks not good.
well,, to be honest, the cue looks very nice!! congratulations,, you've earned it, after a long waiting time !!!
As for the ebony,, I see it now in the photo much better and know what you meant!!
I think it is ebony,,, but he sused a thin layer around the mapel !!!
I got this story by Tony glover. A friend of mine, had exactly the same problem with his Rly cue!!( a few years ago )
So, he made a few pictures and send it to Tony G,,, and asked his opinion about it !!!
He said,, with one piece cue,, the shaft runs in the button. (is not same story as 3/4 cue), as we all know.
Sometimes they use a thinner layer ebony around the shaft (this usually happens in the area nearby the splits),, why they are doing this, I don't know. Perhaps because of price of the wood. (ebony is an expensive wood).
So,, I realy think,, that yellow stuff what you see,,,,,,, is mapel . anyway, just my opinion.( can't say that I am sure of this, I see only the photos )

Very glad that the cue suits your game and many thanks for the pictures.. and ur time.
Great looking cue !!! enjoy ur game !!!

dear mate, I'm pretty sure that yellow sthff is not maple, maybe the woodmark of ebony.
I've found a picture of JP Classic cue, have a look.
