  • Higgins changes cue yet again!

Just watching John Higgins playing against Mike Dunn in the Shanghai masters and he has changed to a maple cue. He had this cue last week from Maximus and had two made up, one in ash, one in maple and he has ditched his Exquisite already!

Very surprised because he looked in good form at the start of the season but obviously this must feel very good to change within a few days of getting it.

He's getting worse than Dominic and that's saying something, I think his game is in decline and he's in denial, he hasn't really taken care of his fitness/ body and it's catching up on him, the way i see it, no cue will ever last that long for him!
Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

It will never last long as he uses the new cue as a placebo where he does well for a bit then goes downhill then changes cues again. waste of time imho age is finally catching up with him

Wow, switched to maple. They say a change is as good as a holiday, so I hope it's a good one for him. I loved the different feel of maple when I switched from ash. Ash feels more direct to me but with maple I find it easier to play more measured shots.
          Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

This is a proof that even the best players out there are not immune to placebo effect.

Bit harsh to say that Higgins form is in decline, he played very well at the start of the season with the cue he had off Raymo and although he has changed now it could just be that he has settled very quickly with this one and maybe maple may help him with the sighting of the ball. He has often had ash cues with arrows facing in the opposite direction and seems to be very fussy with his requirements, it could purely just be that he has never tried maple before and found it suits him.

As for Maximus I think they are the next big thing after Parris in the cue making industry. Making big waves in the game, they had a lot of players going to their stand at the recent 6 red tournament and many players have signed up and are having cues made for them by maximus to their requirements.

As they have a far better quality of ash and maple with some fantastic looking and playing shafts I can see many players converting to them. Watch this space!

You had a bad experience of them ???
From what i have seen at Greenbaize they seem ok, some LOUD woods used and butt finish a bit unusual, but Stu will take that off if you prefer, as it's only a 10 minute job.
