  • Charity Cue Raffle 2013

    Hi everyone,

After last years success I'm running another cue raffle to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my friend Craig Williamson. Craig died from a heart attack at only 24years old back in 2007.

Last year we raised a total of £536 of which 100% went to the charity. This was possible due to the generosity of a local businessman who sponsored the raw materials and my father in law who paid to have the raffle tickets printed.

With your help I'd like to beat last years total. Please visit my just giving page here http://www.justgiving.com/KARL-CRAIK1

Tickets are only £2 each. Please donate in multiples of £2 for multiple tickets. Donate £10 for 5 tickets etc..

The draw will be done on the 6th October 2013.

The winner will then be able to choose any design of cue they want. The woods and specs are entirely up to the winner, providing I can get the woods they want. Specifying woods from the timber used in the colosseum in Rome might be hard to get hold of.

    ***UPDATE***

I've now added a 1 piece maple shaft and Cocobolo butt cue as a runners up prize. You now have 2 chances to win a cue.

    ***UPDATE***

    !!!IMPORTANT!!!

You MUST leave your name AND screen name when you donate or I won't be able to write out your tickets. I'll use your screen name to email/PM you on here and let you know your ticket numbers at the end of each day.

No screen name, no tickets. I'm not psychic and my balls ain't crystal LOL

Thanks for your time and let's see if we can beat last years total.

Yeah the winner gets to design whatever cue they want within reason. The sponsor is willing to cover all materials to do a cue with for example 8 lower exotics plus veneers. Gold and diamonds would be extra ;-)

            Hi Tommy,

I've replied to your PM with instructions but i'll also drop a note on here for the benifit of you and others.

I'm a relativly new cue maker based in Northumberland, North East England. I'm just a hobbyist cue maker at the moment but i'm getting very good reviews from players and collectors alike. I'm no Mike Wooldridge or Trevor White (or any of the other top makers) but touch wood i've not had any complaints or returns yet. I've been at it a couple of years now and with the advice of some of the top cuemakers i'm putting out some (in my opinion) very nice cues.

            Here's a link to a couple of my recent works;

You can also see the cue that last years winner designed when you follow the link to the Just Giving page. Its in the gallery section on there.

This is my way of supporting a good cause for a lost friend. We did very well last year with £250 of the £536 total coming from forum members.

Thanks for your support and best of luck in the draw.

            Karl

I can see some of your other images in your Photobucket gallery (no login required) but the links above do not have any images on them.
Try copying the IMG code (at the bottom of the codes on the right of the individual picture, usually just one mouse click will auto copy it to the clipboard) this will display the picture itself in the post not a link.

forgot to ask, can you say who won last year and what cue did they go for?
                    Up the TSF! :snooker:

                          I wouldn't say Karl is a novice

Certainly doesn't look like novice work ! I was going off what karl himself said ! " Relatively New cuemaker " doing it for 2 years !! Apologies if the remark offended

                              John,

Thanks for posting those pics. I'll get the hang of this site one day. Doing it all on an iPhone probably doesnt help!

                              Teo & Tommy,

Thanks for the kind words about my cues. I still class myself as a novice cuemaker as I'm hyper critical about my work. All of my cues play very well but I'm yet to produce an absolutly imaculate 100% imperfection free cue. I still get 1-2mm difference at the bottom of my splices sometimes. I know this means F**K all in the grand scheme of things but until I nail one I will still see myself as a novice/hobbyist. When that perfect one does happen (and it will) I will upgrade my status from "hobbyist cue maker" to "lucky son of a bi*ch cue maker" LOL. Might also have to charge an extra £700 on top of what I charge already and get someone else to make it under my name... Mr cinical I know but each to their own.

We've raised £102 on the first day which is a great start. Only £434 away from last years total.

Thanks again for all the support. We're doing Craig proud. RIP buddy.
