  • Burroughes & Watts green badged Mascot cue

Got this just this week, looks to be in almost too good condition !!
Have sent info to Dave Smith of cues and views but no response as yet
What seems strange is the weight stamp of only 15, ie no oz ???
    Lovely cue tho
    Specs are 58", 14.4 oz (stamped 15), 11.3 mm un-ferruled, 18" balance point, 29.5 mm butt diameter

yep, Dave Smith has one on his Cue'n'Views gallery and looks the same.
The champher on the end of the butt is unusual, is that common on the green badge Mascot?

Hmm seems impossible to get to that page from the main page, very strange website lol
Anyhow i know it looks right, it's just the weight stamp that is confusing without the oz on it

Yes Jim already seen that, but looking at the weight stamps page this cue should have oz below the number 15 ??

on the Weight stamps page for B&W the last line on the is:
"Finally, as weight stamps appear to have been applied by hand before the 1920s, using separate stamps for the numbers and the letters, cue makers might sometimes have accidentally reversed the numbers and letters."
so maybe someone forgot to add the letters
Look forward to Dave Smith's assessment.

Yeah but this cue is 30's onwards, should of got the hang of it by then lol, maybe this is like one of those rare stamps without the perforations, ie worth a fortune

well it does say "at the bottom of the Burroughes & Watts range of "named" hand-spliced cues" so maybe just a small-fortune

its possible that the weight stamps were a bit haphazard or the bloke just forgot to had oz ,but the mags are a gd guide, smashing condition though mate ,and i think you will find a top player mine is.

Lol maybe, but a small fortune is better than no fortune
Reading the "articles" bit of the site the round coloured badged cues are rare, and even rarer with no oz
Prices mentioned are from Feb 2000 so should be ignored, obviously my cue has gone up a lot
The Mascot : This cue has a plain ebony butt with a large green veneer
and an ebony front splice. There are two designs of the badge either a
square or circle with green and black writing. [£120-160] I have also
seen a round yellow and a round green badge both with black writing.
These coloured badges are quite rare. [£150-200]
