£180-200 is about the going rate for a 1st Edition in this condition John I've sold 3 in the last 18 months.
I believe that Burroughes & Watts had a transitional period during the 2nd and 3rd phase in their weight stamps history. Anomalies may have happened such as this one during this time (late 1920s-30s). I doubt it's added anymore value to the cue though.
If it has then it's a lesson learned for me lol

I have around 22 B&W cues at the moment (sure others have a lot more), I don't recall that any have a weight stamp like that. The early "5"'s on the B&W stamps are almost over sized compared to the other numbers, I quite like they for that reason, if that's not too sad . I do have a Thurston's and and EJ Riley with a similar small type faced stamp though - both early cues, the Thurston pre 1900's and the Riley an early "The Riley Cue", billiards style cue with no screws in the badge.

Did you ever get any luck with this jrc? Sorry to bring back an old thread but interested as just browsing a few bits as not been on for a while. I do have an untouched one, in 17 oz, without the oz also. Thanks mate.

It may be authentic (I've certainly been told that by a couple of people who have an informed opinion), but definitely not what is call original - the butt is thinned and refinished for a start.
as long as the new owner is happy that's all that matters - all I can say I that I wouldn't buy it, I've turned it down a couple of times.

Who knows then eh. I'll put some pics up of my 17oz mascot when I get a chance just for any thoughts. It's authentic and pretty much untouched, with lacquer etc still on the butt, but with 17 only stamped. It was in locked storage since the 60's!

How are you supposed to upload photos!! It's only 1.1 mb but the limit is 200kb! No photo is under 200 kb surely! I know I haven't been about for a while but am I being thick fellas? Before this thing gets slung down the drive.

200kb for an image can still be high quality, anything over 1mb is classed as very high quality.
Most cameras have a default setting way too high for most people's needs

either reduce the overall size by 50% with ratio maintained and see what size you get (50% should reduce the size to a 1/4 of what it was), or put on photobucket and then copy the IMG link (no the URL from the address bar) and paste that IMG code into the TSF post to display the image

a tip - always work on a copy of the file
                              Up the TSF! :snooker:
