    Hi,

Yeah, unlike many players and pro's included i never changed cues because i convinced myself something was wrong with my existing cue. Because i am as close to a cue expert regards playability of a cue as one could be i always changed because i have such a love for well made cues and whenever i tried cues it was never long before i felt comfortable with a new cue.

I have never blamed a cue for bad form but changing does give you fresh zest or enthusiasm and makes you commit to hard practise and that is basically it in a nutshell for me.

Basically i have changed because i never felt it was difficult to do so provided a new cue was similar in many ways to my existing cue. Weight, balance and taper and suchlike may vary a little but so long as the new cue threw similarly with sidespin i was always quick to adapt to it.

          Hi,

Yes, they made 2 cues the same which i always request so i can keep 1 of them as a spare incase of damage or theft etc etc.

When i stand them both together the splices match up to the mm, it's amazing. Since these cues were made the buts have been lacquered by myself and the transfers applied to make then genuine replica Connoiseur cues. Whenever i have a Replica made i must stay faithful to the originals.

Of course original PowerGlide Connoisseurs from the 2nd edition onwards had overpainted Ebony splices which makes them shorter and stubbier which cannot be replicated in a fine handspliced cue but these ones made by Maximus are proportionately the closest i have ever seen to original connoisseur cues. They are 58 long with a total butt length of 18 inches and an 18 inch balance and weight 18 ounces. Exactly what i asked for. I did have them made with 10.4mm ferrules. I always like this because i can practise with them and adjust the throw with sidespin by reducing the end mass, ie, the ferrule size and taper just below the ferrule. They are now both 10.1mm at the ferrule base and 9.9mm at the top of the ferrule. They seem to play exactly how i like now. I have already knocked in a maximum with the one i use. Having said that i have been doing 5 hours a day in order to completely familiarise myself with the cue so that whenever i play a shot now the cue feels like i have used it for years. Looking down the Maple doesn't look remotely strange anymore. I guess if i looked down my old Ye Olde on ebay now it would look really weird to me being Ash.

Aestically these are my favourite cues i have ever used and my goodness i have used a good few.

When are they up for sale?

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
              I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Oh, one thing i wish to mention..... I do wish to collect PowerGlide brochures and any paperwork ephemera or rare PowerGlide stuff relating to the company so if anybody has anything like this then please do inform me. It has to be pre 2000 in date though so anything between lets say 1970s - 2000 in date and i would be very interested. I could also be interested in original Connoisseur Cues although i do have an early 1st edition in Maple and an Ash 3rd Edition, both 1 piece. I would like to acquire a 2nd Edition Connoisseur which would have the beaded plastic badge with a bronze foil insert with Connoisseur Cue written on it.

                D.D.

                Thanks,

                D.D.

Alreet Dom, what's the difference between the 2nd and 3rd edition Connoisseur? Like you the connoisseur is my favorite cue design, had my pool cue made in that design, ash shaft with cocobolo for the bottom splices. Got an old 2 piece maple shaft original but the badge had been replaced with a plain piece of brass so not sure which edition it will be.
