My advice send Stu at Green Baize an email and tell him your budget an what you're looking for. I heard about him on here and got in touch and ordered a master cue from him. Super nice guy, great customer service. Honestly can't recommend him highly enough.

I would wait around keeps checking the cues for sale thread and ask a few of the regular members on this forum who buy and sell cues - some are very knowledgeable indeed and they know what constitutes a good player as these guys often buy to try - they often sell some good cues for a limited return. You can come across some very good cues at very reasonable prices from this forum and meet some nice people in the process.

You will know when you find the right cue for you, until then you will change your cue like your socks, sometimes because people on here say a particular cue or seller is good, sometimes because you go through a bad patch and think a new cue will make it better, sometimes just because you feel like it and occasionally because you think it's a bargain.

Until then it doesn't matter, you shouldn't lose any sleep over it, it's just a hobby/game, spend what you can when you want to - if you get to the stage where you can knock in fifty breaks for fun you'll know exactly what you need and to be honest, you can do that with a rack cue.
