  • Prices of cue alterations

    Evening

I just got hold of a brand new one piece peradon royal for a reasonable price,
However it was an ebay jobby so I was hoping I could get on it
But just having a feel it does look to be a little thicker in the shaft than what I'm used to and the tip is pretty close to 10mm, prefer a 9.5mm.

It looks like Robert Osbourne is the closest to me for alterations,
How much do you think it will cost to have it retapered, re ferruled and refinished?
I don't really fancy spending a lot of money on this cue

I am yet to play with it yet so it might be fine

I have a feeling that all Peradon's are chunky in the shaft in general, a friend has one for pool with a 9mm ferrule and I sent it to Andy Travis for reducing the shaft thickness a bit. Did not take long or cost much.
Andy also did another re-ferrule to a smaller size as well as total refurb of the cue. great job.

Robert's website does not have any costs, so I would contact him and have a chat:
    http://www.robertosbornecues.com/index.php/repairs.html

Or is John Parris near you as well? They also can do alterations, again give them a call and ask.

The work you want should no cost too much where ever you go.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

RO is closer to me, I'm north west London so only half hour or so, I just sent him an email, hopefully I can take the cue Monday

Was thinking the same thing, worth a try
I got it for next to nothing so I'm not too fussed, just thought with a little tlc it could turn out a nice cue

i would bet it will work out cheaper to send it to andy travis or craftsman cues even with both sets of postage. or try it yourself!

Hmm I don't really have the expertise to make a decent job of it

RO quoted me 35 quid, had a couple of hours with it this evening for the first time, it's a very stiff cue, will tapering down reduce some of the stiffness?

Possibly but if you only do a slight reduction you probably wont notice much.
When are you taking it to RO?

Robert re-ferruled my cue not so long back, so I would have been surprised if he hadn't been interested and especially as you could drop it in as well......

He done a cracking job on my cue and very reasonable, top guy!!

Only if you do a progressive taper down, most people only do the last few inches of the cue when you want the tip size reducing... you can end up with some really odd looking cues when people retaper to pool specs and only the last 6" has been tapered.

from the first post I hope he plans to retaper most of the shaft (not just the top 6"). This is what my friend had done to his Peradon, to reduce the chunkiness of the whole shaft and it is a much nicer cue to play with now.

Well for £35 you would think he will do a decent job
Stu charges £10 for smaller ferrule and last portion blended in

yep very similar cost for the whole shaft by Andy Travis, including a refurb as well.

Hopefully take it in tomorrow afternoon, hopefully it will make a difference, struggled with it yesterday, especially when playing with side
