Jim, if may I ask, what type of oil finish do you use for your cues above, they look amazing and natural.
+1 on the badge design
Depends on the wood but usually raw linseed, tung or danish ... I like using a light danish oil on maple.
Buy good quality oils and wood will always look fine with the right amount of coats.
There's no secret formula just correct drying times and buffing

Thanks for sharing. I'm using raw linseed oil, although it gives a nice even shine but at the same it creates an old yellowish tone which makes it less desire. Will try your suggestion on Danish oil. Thanks again for sharing...
Hey everyone, I've been a bit lazy updating the forum, I should've put some of these photos up months ago but life seems to get in the way if you know what I mean
Anyways, here's a few cues I built over the last 6 months or so for customers.
and this one will be leaving soon ...
Thanks for looking
I think I am falling in love - the attention to detail like the mini butt with the splices and the choice of woods you have used is really nice - not just maple splices but flame maple I notice - mmmm only really seen stuff like this done by Trevor who takes a bit of pride on his top end cues and as for that last cue what lovely figuring in the burr looks like its been grown out of some magical Irish heather - All in all lovely cues really Jim and they compare really well with any cue I have ever seen on here or anywhere else in the world to be perfectly honest but I suppose being a classical guitar maker for years like you are this would mean you have some good access to lots of these strange and wonderful bits of wood.
I can see you becoming very popular very quickly and In my opinion if anyone wants a quality handmade cue on here and they come on and see these cues it is a very simple choice - written in Black or White.
I'm sold - infact I am going to buy one or two now before you become more popular than Guinness
You're a man of great taste mate, JB's cues are undoubtedly the dog's testicles.
Yep I agree there 100 per cent. I'm buying a few for sure -There seems to be a unique talent in Mr Black's creative Irish hands - if his cues are like this now what will he be making next year - I bet his guitars are **** hot.
