Line up the reds, try to pot as many as you can with one cue, then try again with the other, keep repeating until you realise which one suits you best. Then try clearing the colours, see how that compares to 1st exercise, usually one cue will play better for you than the other

Give them both a good run out, don't just do what many seem to do which is play with it for a day then discard it. Hold onto both for a few weeks, try one out at a time, don't play with both as you need to get a proper feel for the cue. Don't forget with a new cue comes a new tip as well that needs time to bed in, also a brand new shaft will also change slightly during its first few hours of use as it settles into the environment you are using it in.
For me the feel and balance is often the deciding factor. You will instinctively know which one is right for you because it will be the cue you feel most confident in. Play a match against someone and then decide which you'd choose to play a game you want to win.

Its obvious that this difference is going to determine your choice in the end. I wouldn't expect that 0.2mm would make a massive difference so its possible its something other than that. I read on the other page that the flat on the butt end could be longer or deeper which is another good point. Is the balance of the cues identicle?

Under 16 is a bit on the butt heavy side for me. I'd bet the other cue is probably nearer 17 which tends to be about right. If the feel on the bridge hand is a bit light then you won't feel comfortable especially bridging off the cushion. Have you actually played with these cues yet or is this just a reaction to holding them and what it feels like?
