parris has a good business head where yes he can get good wood if he wants for his ultimate but its the whole emphasis on waiting for his cues that makes people think they are getting the best hence keeping business spot on instead of dropping prices
does anyone know if parris or any of his staff try the cues out before they are sent out?

If I was in such a hurry or didn't feel I could wait for mine I'd just ask for my deposit back. At the end of the day there is no shortage of options for good quality playing cues, especially from the Thai cue makers who right now are probably the best in the world in terms of quality, great looking shafts and affordable too.
I've since ordered another cue from Jason Owen and that should be with me by June/July of this year (only 6 months after I ordered)...

I don't want to have my money back on the Parris I have ordered as I have waiting 28 months now so surely I should see it this year....

I don't know about that. All ranges of his cues have a fairly lengthy waiting time, I know someone has been waiting nearly a year for a Traditional model!

Fact is its in his interest to get these cues made more quickly because having orders unfullfilled for 2+ years must be costing him money. Better to get the cues out and paid for than holding back and keeping people waiting, he still has staff to pay.

I don't think they try the cues out but the feel and knowledge they have built up over the years, JP will know what he is looking for in an Ultimate shaft and at least he is still involved in that process so you are going to get a top cue. Its just a shame you might have found another cue in the meantime, or worse still packed up playing altogether before you get it!

agree theres a likely chance people would of packed up playing, retired or found another cue and worse still got to old to play anymore and ended up referees

That's crazy. Why doesn't he change the website to reflect this? It quotes between 16 and 25 weeks for a Traditional.

What I don't get is people have said on here that after waiting 18-24 months their status changes to 'in progress' and then they receive the cue a few weeks later. Is it really a case of your order not being touched all that time before getting to the top of the pile? I can't see with a team of people making the cues how he can have such a backlog.

Might be a tad off topic but, would the wait time be the same for a maple shaft?

I did email them with specs and they directed me to the cue builder. Don't imagine there were too many cues there with a 10mm ferrule. I ended up ordering a Special w/maple. Hopefully only 4-6 months. How are you liking yours?

I got a maple professional, 3/4 58 inches and 18oz. Has a 9.5mm tip and plays like a dream! Has taken some adapting but I really like it. In all fairness it's my first maple cue and I'm a fan.

Glad to hear it. I've only tried a JP in ash but, always liked the maple cues I've had. Thought it was worth the chance. Thanks for posting on it.

Were the wait times posted on his site the same when you ordered as they are today?
