John Parris Ultimate waiting times

One last question. Would everyone rather:

A: Pay £200 for an Ultimate with a waiting period of 4 Years.
B: Pay £750 for an Ultimate with a waiting period of 2 Years.
C: Pay £1100 for an Ultimate with a waiting period of 3 months
D: Pay £1400 for an Ultimate with no waiting period.
E: Punch Fedia.

I'm E with C a close second.

I would love to buy an Ultimate but I would never bother ordering one due to the waiting period.

F is obviously a better choice. Buying a cue from any other quality maker is a better choice compared to being ripped of or dying of old age before you cue gets made. More people should be choosing F but isn't Trevor's waiting list starting to get out of hand .

A lot of this is clever marketing too. If you can create a perception of scarcity you create desire, many companies around the world do this very successfully even with very common products. Take Coca-Cola's most recent initiative of putting names on bottles. Genius!

I work in the business/finance side of the nursery industry (children not plants) and a couple of our sites have people happily sitting on our waiting list for a place even before their child is born. Often these nurseries are no better than others in our group but because of the perception of places being scarce and in demand people are flocking to register.

How much time do you think that John Parris has to enjoy the rewards of the successful brand he has created through his years of hard work? It is likely that he is no longer making cues out of a passion for the craft but out of a desire to create financial security for those closest to him.

What is the Production time for an ultimate? i.e. if there was 0 days waiting time and your cue got started today, how long does it take? I would assume that they let the wood settle for a while between certain stages. Does any one know?

Well going off my order for an Ultimate , once my status in my account changed to ''in progress'' it was approx 12 weeks for the cue to be done.

That's what I did, but it was a MW02 and now with 'Blackspin' and the hidden joint, it looks, feels and plays like a 1pc and no two year wait!

In the US there are waiting times of 6 years + for a machine made 9 ball pool cue. Figure that one out!

I know this thread is about John Parris Ultimates. But in march this year I ordered a cue from John Parris. After spending many hours on his cue-builder app, I took the plunge and went to his shop and ordered a 1pc special cue to my specification. John was very helpful and discussed what the processes were and what would suit my cue-action. He said the approx waiting time would be 6-8 months. Having talked to my friends who have JP's and read many articles on here, I was very sceptical on my 1pc pride and joy arriving before Xmas! But guess what, last week I received a phone call from John saying my cue was ready for collection. Having received my cue , I must say it feels , looks and plays great. I'm well chuffed and very pleased with John Parris and his service.

Thanks. So do I! There's always a risk when getting a new cue , that you won't get on with it. But having played pool and owned many mediocre cues, I knew what specs I wanted so took some of the gamble away. Although my wife nearly had kittens when I showed her the price. A small price to pay to finally have something I've wanted for years.
