Peradon V Parris...

Ok, having used two Parris cues in past with varying results, i have took plunge and bought a peradon instead..whats general consensus on peradon? obviously cheaper to buy but is there really much different in quality?? I have used a very old maple cue for last few years, is rubbish, badly weighted piece of crap!! however has great feel which is what im after, but need better balance for long game etc...parris cues ive had are nice but lack any sort of feel and are over rated in my opinion.

you can find good cues anywhere, from a shop, web, or off the wall in the club, five quid or 500, but you really need to play with the cue first.

The general consensus seems to be Peradon aren't what they used to be but I wouldn't worry what others think... because like has been said you could buy a new Parris cue and it feels rubbish, then go buy a Peradon and to you it feels like the holy grail!

my pool team mates have some recent Peradon cues, 3 are rough finish and splices are off and rough. the fourth is a beauty. Conversely 3 recent Paris cue newly made, 2 are good and one was slightly under finished and was easy to refinish.
As has been said each cue is individual and you can have varying results.

my old cue was unbadged and 30+ years old, i loved it, but it went missing, i have tried several cues since and not been happy.

i recently bought a jian ying cue off ebay for 45 quid with case, mini butt and telescopic extension. and i have to say it is quite impressive for the price.

and my financial status isnt great at the moment so i thought for the price it was worth a try.

iv tried peradon, riley burwat and 2 master cues and i am actually happier with this cheap chinese cue which i know many people would say is a piece if crap.

the shaft is medium-stiff, (luckily as iv heard different about others) it came oiled not laquered, and it is weighted beautifully.

and i honestly didnt expect it, first of all i thought id have to strip and re finish it.

but i guess like some others have said every cue is different for different people.
the chances are when im more finacially stable il have a cue made from dave coutts or maybe andy travis.

but for now this is working for me just fine, and you never know i may well stick with it.

and id just wait for the peradon and play with it not worrying what it is, imagine its a parris if you like, and just judge it on how you like it

What model Parris did you try ?

As already said what suits one person may not suit another! But saying that I wouldnt recommend buying a Cue from Sports Direct etc as that isnt the way forward really if you wanna play to quite a high level as they are mass produced and arent great at all.

I have had few Ultimate Cues which were worth around £1200 and couldnt Pot a Ball with them 1 being way to stiff and the other just didnt play right for me but saying that doesnt mean it wouldnt suit you or the next person!.

I will say if you use one of the Top Cue makers you will get the right cue eventually when you know what specs you need as that will be half the battle, please dont be like me as i like a fancy design cue which is No Good if you cannot play with it!....lol

All i can say is if you can Please "TRY" before you Buy! Which this is impossible sometimes with the Top Cue Makers as they hardly ever have Spare Cues hanging around Like Trevor White etc as very sort after! But if you goto Stu at Greenbaize or John Parris or Maybe Dave Brown at Craftsman Cues they have Plenty of Cues in stock for you to Try which i do Recommend as I have bought and sold 100's of Cues and very few have suited me.

Just a little confused with your maths here, you are saying that your JPUs were worth £1200 yes?
The brand new price of a JPU is £630 today. Meaning you can pick this cue up at the shop for £630, following me so far ?
Next add the most extravagant decoration and add £200. So far we are at £ 880. Plus delivery.
What I don't understand is how you get to your number of £1200.00 ?
Within the last 3 months I received my TW with modest decoration and the bill was £650+ delivery.
My new MW that I ordered 4 months ago and I am still waiting for is £880 all up.
So it appears to me that you are trying to create the impression that JPU cues are over priced at the shop price, if that is your intention the I suggest that you are under estimating the intelligence of the TSF readers, I mean all they have to do is go to the JP website and build a cue.

I don't disagree with you, but I am talking about shop prices, order and wait. Forget about waiting, if you want to talk eBay price then the sky is the the limit.

If he's saying they are worth that, then the price sold on ebay is much more relevant to

what they're worth, than the shop price.

You may be talking about shop prices, but Gazza wasn't. He was talking about how much people are willing to pay for one.
