I would always go less than ten, that way you can buy used 10s and cut them down.

        Snooker Tips

i play with 9.25mm, i either buy 10mm tips and cut them down as said, or with elks i buy 9mm and compress them abit more until they are just under 9.5mm then fit and cut them flush to the ferrule

9.5mm is my limit, any bigger and it looks too big for me, i used to use 8mm which i felt comfortable with but if your cueing goes just a little bit then it has a bigger effect on the shot as you have less room for error if that makes sense.

so i feel anywhere from 9-9.5 is best, but again everybody is different

Cheers guys, i play with a 8mm at moment but lately my potting gone so bad im wondering is it 2 small of a tip an maybe i should have a 9mm tip. Cant play wit 10mm as they look an feel so big i cant pot anythingwith them. Then again it could be down to my confidence being so low i think i cant play this game an cant seem to get a break over 10 even though when i play well 40+ no prob 2 me.

8mm tip way to small for snooker you don't see the really good players playing with anything that small .

Just go down to your club... lift quite a few rack cues out and try them out, when you find something your comfortable with measure the tip etc or maybe borrow the cue for the long term like many others do...
Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

Hi Southpaw iv my own table at home so dont go to any club really unless its for a comp. I used to work in a snooker hall an i cant play wit standard cues as most of them 10mm. I cant got to cue shop an try out cues an nearist cue shop is 207km away. I stuck really as what 2 do. Iv a preference for small tips but was wonderin if its my confidence more than tip thats lettin me down.

In what way can you not play with a ten, is it that you don't think you can get the right reaction on the white? It should be easier as you will have a bigger sweet spot.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Hi thanks for the invite but be a bit hard as im from West of Ireland. I used to play with 10mm house cues an struggled for years so i ordered a cue an straight away it felt for better got more reaction on cue ball an potted better. So from then on i never liked big 10mm tips iv even tried it lately just to see an couldnt wait to give cue back felt all wrong.
