I am thinking of buying myself a JP cue brand new for my 50th birthday in April 2016 I know roughly what specs I want. The question is how long is the waiting list ? Will it be ready for April 2015? And what are the difference between the ultimate, paragon and special except price and is it worth the extra for a parris case?.

John Parris Cues
Go for it! What a fantastic present to yourself.
Some will give you other options about ordering from Trevor or Mike or Jason or Raymond or...but I can understand why people like ordering from a company with a very nice website like Parris cues over the makers without such an available shop window.
As for the difference between the Special, Paragon, and Ultimate I would say very little......potentially. Any of these grades of bespoke cue could be an absolute cracker, I guess it perhaps lies in the likelihood of the cue being just that. So due to the time and effort taken, and the selection of materials a Special could have a 60% chance of being a cracker, a Paragon could have 75% chance, and an Ultimate a 90% chance. Just my opinion and some 'fag packet' maths.
I have no experience of his cases but appear nice from the photos.
Good luck

It was exciting after the first few months, now its become tedious and frustrating. Who else buys a cue knowing they are going to be waiting over 2 years for it!?!!?!?!
Had I known when I placed the order it would be that long I'd have not bothered.
So take it from me, if you really want a JP buy one off the standard range or maybe a special if you want made to measure. It simply isn't worth the wait for the Ultimate.

Didn't you know it before? I have ordered an ultimate 6 month ago and John told me it would take one year.
And to be honest i dont think the ultimates would be so successful if you could get it within a few weeks. Did you know that you could wait 6 years for a machine made pool cue? If John would move to a bigger workshop badging thai shafts it would be the end.Last edited by svendh; 15 January 2014, 09:39 AM.

If the value of a cue equates to the length of time you have to wait for it, I will sell you one of my hand made cues, it will never arrive and that's a cast iron guarantee , that must make it worth twenty grand of anyone's money.
I honestly don't know why they cost so much, what are you paying for? This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
