  • Snooker Cue for a 5 year old.....Suggestions ?

I want to buy a Snooker Cue for my 5 year old son [ Clue was in the Title i suppose !!! ]

But not sure what size to get him ?

I want something that is going to last him possibly into his early teen's .

Anyone else bought their kids' a cue ?

Was thinking 52" long......would that be about right ?

    Cheers

How tall is he? You probably don't want one too long for him. Maybe get him one for his size (shoulder height) now plus a bit extra. When he grows a bit get him a longer one maybe.

Don't forget to get him a milk crate too.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

What about this double spliced one piece at 54" I am mucking about with, have it drilled for badge, nothing special but you are welcome to it.

My average height seven year old plays with a 48" cue and even then he has 7" hanging past his grip. I bought it from ebay as it was a present for him but to be honest the tip should be larger and it is pretty heavy for a child's cue.

My tall nine year old plays with an old Powerglide Executive that I took down to 53" and reduced the butt diameter to 26mm.

Having bought a 'child's cue' new and altered an old cue for my two boys my preference is to alter a cue as the weight is more comfortable and the larger tip size gives them more accuracy.

I agree with that, as long as possible a quickly as possible, it saves them having to change when older.

A Friend of mine had a similar problem so I made him a 3/4 cue with a full length 3/4 shaft and two butts.
A short butt for now and a longer butt to make the cue full length for when he's older. He can then use the same shaft as he grows up.

I did the same thing for my son as well.
The short butt is also handy if they play pool in pubs with no room round the table.
