    Burwat Champion Cue

    A bit of advice guys please.
    Meet a guy down the club tonight who has a Burwat Champion Cue 1pc with a nice badge except that the "ue" of the "Cue" and the "Ltd" missing from the Burroughes & Watts" name. But importantly on the under side of the butt there is a large piece of the wood missing.
    It looks an original cue with a ferrule that looks at least 11mm and is in good condition that would refurb beautifully - apart from the butt.
    Now would it be worth anything as is, or worth refurbing and fixing the butt?
    Value afterwards?

    Do you mean badge writing has faded or whole badge itself worn away?

      no, I mean the lettering is really good but the end of the butt and badge has been "lost" so the end of the lettering is gone though wear, etc. Seen this on other photos of this type of cue.

        Seen that on quite a few champions, just so much wear over the years the edge of the badge has worn away. Wouldn't think that it would be possible to wear that much away just from it rubbing on carpet but apparently it is.

          Couldn't you get a new badge made and fitted??it may need a little more of the badged area taking out to accommodate for the new badge...

            yes you can get replacement badges but this badge is very nice and original (apart from the lost due to wear of the bottom edge) but my main question is with the butt wood missing from the other side of the butt from the flat, the damage was obviously done a long time ago as the edges are smooth. I would estimate that the missing piece would be about 4" long by 1" wide and 1/4-1/2" deep.
            Is it worth doing the cue us, replacing the missing wood?

            Darn it, I knew I should have got some photos, I will try to get some soon

              It's always beter to take pics are you thinking of keeping the cue as a player or to restore it and move it on

                pics - I know, I know, now with modern phones and all
                the owner would like to use it as a player and the damage interferes with his grip and he asked if it was worthwhile repairing it?

                  Well if he is planning on keeping it as a player then yes it would be good to have it repaired.
                  He may not recover that cost if he sells it later tho, depends what standard of repair is done, but in the meantime it will feel much better to play with

                    Definitely repair it...just put a small splice at the opposite side to the badge and it will be good to go..Jim could be your man on here he has done some great repairs on old cues in the past
