  • Best oil to keep cue good

What's the best oil out to keep your cue nice

  • #2
Depends who's hype you believe. You just need to try them and judge for yourself.

Your cues are relatively new mate, so I wouldn't touch them just now, unless you've

taken the finish off them . IMHO

Raw linseed oil is pretty cheap and will get the job done, though there really is mixed views from the cue makers whether it's actually needed at all!

So do you just give your new cue clean with a cloth ?

A slightly damp cloth wipe then buff dry, though I'm planning on a very light coat of raw linseed once every year...

Try getting a bottle of the cue Oil Mike Woolridge is selling. It just saved my Parris Superior last year from a disastrous previous try with a standard linseed oil...
Mike was also of very good advice to help me and his product was just perfect!

I use standard raw linseed oil, have tried Coutts/Aurora/Wooldridge oils in the past they are all very good and can give superb results (if after some extra effort required for some (aurora  )
But the bog-standard linseed oil seems to do just as good a job
The main thing to remember is to only apply a little amount at any one time, and little means little, as you will be surpirsed how far a small amount will go.
But as has been said, if you have a clean cue already, it should not need oiling, just get into a routine to wipe your cue often and definitely when putting it away, to remove the chalk, dust, dirt from the cue (play with clean hands is a good tip), then the cue should be good for a long time before it needs attention
                  cheers

Personally, I would try to avoid using a damp cloth but again this is a subjective topic.

For the first few months, let the finish cure overtime with a nice clean dry cloth buff.

I found Mikes liquid gold to be very good and can't praise it enough. My cues are silky smooth now and look amazing.

Keeps my shaft in tip top condition, although I'm not one for using it on my butt, some may like it but it's not for me.
