Andrew means the varnished butt, I removed it on several and the cue looked the same with the oil finish.

How to remove the varnish on the butt?

Yeah, had a couple of hours on Thursday. Does feel stiffer but the new tip isn't quite bedded in yet. Think I'm gonna put a coat of varnish on the butt just to give me a better grip as it is very smooth. It's nice & straight with a good grain. I'm going to use it properly once our season finishes as only 3 or 4 games left.

nice one, just mailed niche about knocking me up a 1pc Niche Ultimate in JP Mannock style, see how much they say for that.
should be getting my 1pc Maximus Ultimate cue soon in the next couple of weeks hopefully, that looks cracking!

Good stuff. What did the maximus cue cost you? Both Niche & Maximus put some crackin lookin cues up in Facebook. Might just enquire with Maximus for a price on a 3/4 cue. Don't tell the missus tho!!

lol, maybe you have seen mine it's on their Facebook page, it's a 1pc ebony and 4 splice cross cut rosewood butt, ultimate number 430. I ordered it through Stu at Green Baize, placed a order with him end of Jan this year. spotted lots of pictures of it last week. just waiting for Stu to say he has received it ok... it is going to cost me £449 with matching mini butt, good price I think :snooker:

Ah so I wondered who's cue that was next to mine on those pics. Did you have any special requests about the ash shaft at all?

Hello again mate, didn't know it was you ..I asked for a shaft with 8 to 10 arrows running right up to the tip, they managed to find a shaft close to that with 12 arrows, I also asked for a oil finish butt, instead of their normal lacquer finish. we cant have much longer to wait now, when did you place your order with Stu if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah pretty much the same as you, asked for a shaft with between 5 and 8 arrows, I don't like a lot as I find it can be a little bit off putting. Also asked for an oil finish, I think all the custom orders look as though they maybe oil finish judging the pics.

I first asked Stu about the cue back in October but as he wasn't placing an order until January he never got back to me. I asked him again in Jan and he said Maximus never got back to him about the wood I requested but then they finally did towards the end of Jan. Paid my deposit and put the order in.

A little bit of info though, these cues should have been produced at the time of the order Stu had in recently, maximus forgot to add it to the order because I asked them directly myself. Someone mentioned next week as a possible delivery, I know they have shipped, I guess it depends how long customs take to process it and send them to Stu. He probably has to pay charges and get that cleared before they release them.

Oh right, yeah I contacted Stu end of Jan and he said he would try and add it to his current Ultimate order, Stu did let me know about 2 weeks ago about the possible delay with the custom orders, on 2 of the first pictures Stu sent me it looks like it had lacquer on it even though I did say I'd like a oil finish, I ask Ton Maximus about this and like you said looks like he has taken it off, though Stu did say he would have if they had not removed it.. really like the look of your cue to never seen Golden Amboyna Burl before looks stunning... sure Stu does get charges, thought he would have asked for more going by his other Ultimate's he has for sell as stock, he never asked me for a deposit strange, guess could have been as he said the specs I asked for were normal stock spec.
