I can't believe the waiting the time for an Ultimate is over a year! Surely John Paris can get ultimate quality shafts imported from Thailand. I've read many tsf member comments on how fantastic Thai cues look and play, surely JP can buy a bulk load of these quality shafts and use it for the Ultimate cues?

But Then they won't be worth what he is charging. Not likely Parris will start handing out refunds Then..

I don't think John should order in ready made shafts, but he could however source his ash from these guys as they seem to have no problem in finding good enough materials.

I think its a very poor excuse just to say that there is a scarcity of Ultimate quality shafts. If he is sourcing his ash from one supplier, and it sounds that way to me, then he needs to broaden his search and realise he is running a business, has taken many £100 deposits from customers and to fob them off like this is simply not good enough.

Typical of British businesses these days, now they have made their money and got a big reputation they think they can do what they like. The thai cue makers would walk for miles to find the right wood if they had problems, that is the difference, they work a damn sight harder.

+1 And another thing to add to this is his excuse "not enough good quality timber" adds to the illusion about his cues being "the best" and at the same time keeps the prices high. win win for Parris

its easy to be cynical but laid bare the facts speak for themselves. make something out of unobtainium and people will pay!

Spot On Cueman ! My Parris cue finally arrived today and was put back in the tube within 2 minutes - garbage ! After waiting nearly six months for a standard Champion Cue I expected at least 2 splices to be even. The side grain is straight one side and not on the other, its one of the whippiest shafts I've seen (Argos quality) and somehow they have managed to get a cue with 23 inch ebony and a joint to balance at 15.5 inches !!!!
I Emailed them immediately with my complaint and to be fair to John he called back within the hour. He told me that "we have acceptable tolerances " but I should send it back if not happy - Lol - its already on its way .

Robin Cook was almost 13 months, tony glover took 5 months, crispian jones took just over 6 months, Stamford said 7-8 months for my series 1 so that should be ready in April. I did manage to get Dave Coutts to make me a cue in 6-7 weeks even though his waiting list but that's a long story
Even if it is 2 & a half or even 3 years I'm not that bothered as I've got some lovely cues already and I'm not in a major rush. I ordered a 1 piece ash ebony with an amboyna burr with a thick maple veneer, 57.5" 9.5mm 18oz 29.5mm butt diameter
sorry rob but this is the problem, you obviously have a bit of dough, but also have lots of cues to look at. no ones saying you shouldn't have a parris ultimate but they are meant to be bought to play the best, i'm now not going to order one due to the waiting time and i only want one cue with specs to suit me and will never want another. could you not of bought one on ebay to look at or have in your collection ? apologies again but if everyone that ordered a parris ultimate wanted one to actually play snooker/pool with the waiting times would be around 5 months or less ! its ok for the people not in a rush and don't mind waiting 3 years for a cue.

If shops sell them and someone wants to buy them, where's the issue? Do you ever buy vegetables that perish and have to be thrown away? Drink every last drop in the milk carton?

It's so easy though to fall into the trap of buying parris cues or coutts or robin cook or trevor white etc cues due to only a minimal deposit needed, get home from the pub straight on to the parris website or send an email to another cuemaker sort your ultimate out pay vertually nothing in deposit then bingo you've got an ultimate on the way.
Like I've said before it's not all about owning the cue many people get a buzz out of knowing they're waiting for a cue in their desirable specs wether it's 6 months or 2 years, then when it arrives they will normally show a few of their pals or post pics on here and give them a couple of weeks and it will be on panjo saying it didn't suit their style of play.
