  • Really Black Ebony Stain

Sanded down the butt on a 3/4 cue that had really bad splices on it in greens and whites etc. Want to stain it really dark black (ebony) then give it a natural oil finished look.

Tried indian ink but the splices still showed through. Can anyone recommend a good black as coal stain that will cover them up?

You will always see the splices underneath the stain no matter how black the stain is mate

Anyone ever tried Black shoe polish? Probabably goes sticky.

You can buy ebony wood dye from B&Q. I haven't tried it myself but it might work better than ink or shoe polish.

Just get some Macassar ebony stain and use the black stuff out of that. Leave the brown and you can use it as teak.

Have you used that and would it hide the splices?

It will do but you will need to build up layers gradually.
