  • Cue wood help

I broke playing pool the otjer day and caught my cue on the table and took a very small chunk of wood out of the ash grain, is there any way to seal this small hole so that it will not worsen overtime?

sorry dont have a pick, it pretty small maybe 1-2mm each way, it can feel a slight bump when cueing i was thinking of using a small ammount of wood filler, what would you use for it?

Personally id use superglue gel, a little at a time then even it over with 0000 grade wire wool, finish with whichever oil you prefere

again, stop!! do not use anything but wood glue on the shaft.. it would need someone who knows what their doing. your likely to need a piece of wood stuck in the hole.. believe, any type of superglue could change the vibe of the cue

I hardly think a 1 or 2 mm dent filled with superglue would affect a cue too much, Stu at Greenbaize uses this method to good effect

Is it a dent or a chip? Dents are really easy to sort out but I'm standing by to learn something about chips as I've also used superglue and sawdust in the past!

if its a dent then it gets steamed out. i know were your coming from don't worry..
working with jp, ro, and ka. none would suggest that. its a no no to use super glue on the shaft.

if you wanna risk changing the cue vibe, go for it.. but really super glue is generally a hard dense glue, okay for touching up the butt but for the shaft, it almost creates a hard spot like a wood knot.
if the hole can't be ironed out then you need to go to work and get creative with flakes of wood and wood glue

Me either and its not just Stu that uses superglue for that kind of repair, few other cue makers who I won't name have mentioned doing it also

Don't want to hijack Minnesotas thread ,but this is a similar question, I was stretching on the table and as I lumbered off my cue came up and hit the light shade( which are very low so the energy saving bulbs can light the table ) this left a tiny(maybe one or two mill at the most) dint, it looks like it has been tapped by a triangular centre punch. This now catches my stubble on occasions ,what's the best thing to do in this a situation.
                              It's on the shaft.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
