And a cue shudnt bend 2 weeks after made like i said got a six year old craftsman that was straiter than jims!

Perfect length splices are achieved when the shaft is clamped in a jig and planed by machine, like those Thai cues that everyone is ejaculating over on this forum.

As for the shaft being a little bit curved, that can happen after the cue has been made when the last of the stresses in the timber are only released after the final sanding and finishing. The ash simply could have moved while in transit unkown to the maker. Are you certain that is was curved ? could the grain of the ash on the shaft have caught your eye and made it look like it was, this can happen.

This is the price you pay for not being on a two year waiting list like with John Parris who will wait for that amount of time until he knows that the shaft is question will not move further and deserves to be called an Ultimate.
His splice lengths are seen by many to be sub standard yet most of the pros use his cues, and I bet they don't get out a steel ruler when they unpack them, just get on the table and find out how it plays.

And text speak is no excuse either, you don't pay by character for posts on this forum, it's free.
Or parris could if he wanted to get a contact in the Far East where his ultimate cue wood is widely available if he wants and lower his prices considerably but this way the whole sales pitch attached to parris cues would be less effective and far less desirable which he knows.

Like Leo, I don't like the focus being put on the op grammar or punctuation, it has nothing at all to do with the point of the thread, we are all different on this forum, I don't mind an argument it's human nature for us to have differing views, we have all had a varying level of education, and it would be easy for those with better grammar or spelling to keep correcting those with less of an understanding, until they felt uncomfortable posting, but that would leave you with just one person on the forum posting, not what we want surely.
Not going to get into the rights and wrongs of the thread as I don't know who's right, but I will agree with JRC in that my cue is perfectly straight but when I use the rest and cue with the long grain running right up the cue, on the top ,it looks like it bends quite badly, but I know this is just an optical illusion, I think it's because the grain has a slight twist on the way up , it's really off putting lol.
One thing though Brian, I think it's standard practice that you have to pay the postage to return an item, it may seem a bit unfair but that's certainly not uncommon or Jim trying to cheat you out of anything.

I never complained about paying postage at all i complained i paid 230 but got 220 back postage nothing to do with it! Everybody going on bout splices wat bout butt of cue that was suppose to be 30 mm but was 27mm 3 mm a big diffrence to the feal of a cue ! Anybody that orders s cue from jim is crazy when u can get far better quality cues to the specs you actualy want for the same possibly less in price! I read all posts bout jim and was very excites to get cue but now left dissapointed by how hes dealt with the situation like i keep says cue was no where near wat i asked for and very poor quality for price!

I bought a cue a couple of years back off a member/ex member on here which had an s bend in it when it arrived. It did take a couple of weeks and a few e mails to get a response but once I got my money back I didnt see the advantage in slating him on a thread.I admit when I wasn't getting replies to my emails I did think of it but gave him the benefit of the doubt.I have since read that numerous people have bought cues from him and were very happy with them.Would as many people have ordered cues if I had open a thread on him?I doubt it.My point being....If a cue maker puts hours into a cue and the customer requests a refund, which was given,he shouldn't then be slated on a post affecting his future sales. He is already at the loss of his time in making the cue.Harsh

That's the way I would have handled it, I hope it doesn't affect Jim, as I have dealt with him, and he was nothing but helpful, sometimes sh.ite happens and things go wrong, without it actually being anyone's fault.

And it is somebodys fault jims tried to do things through pm and he was an ass abour everything so why wouldnt i tell people about my experience ino jim got alot of friends on here defenfing him and im not saying al his cues are like that im saying mine was if i came on here posting about how much i like cue nobody would have an issue but just because i critised and voiced an oppinion his friends didnt like im wrong no im well within my rights to say my oppinion!

                        • your doing a lot more than voicing an opinion, and you are well aware of that.Just to be clear, I dont know Jim nor have I ever had conversation with him.Im just going purely on reading this. You got your money bar a few pence get over it. Im sure you wouldnt buy another cue from him but Id imagine cue makers wont be rushing to deal with yourself after this either.

                          • He sent me a cue not strait no where near my specs at all i wasnt expects specs to be perfect but somewhere in the ball park would be nice and then i ask for a refund and tell jim that would be an end to it and he does nothing but be rude and avoid me kerping my money when hd had his cue back and im in wrong how does that work! Cue makers can think what they want but if they give me what i ask for or as close as they can get thats fine but dont send me a cue that the shaft isnt strait theres no excuses for that the shaft was as much as 5mm out of strait that is alot
