  • Blank shafts (ash/maple) for cue making

Can anyone help me source any blank cue shafts for making a snooker cue, i have always wanted to try and make a cue and after watching some excellent videos on this topic have decided to give it a go. I have successfully repaired cues in the past and although i have failed to find a used ferrule cutter i can accomplish this task by hand.
Any help from seasoned cue makers would be most grateful, i live in Tyne & Wear so i would prefer a local timber stockist but would be prepared to travel/pay shipping costs on a reasonable distance.
I look forward to your replies and would like the thank in advance anyone that can help.

    Regards,
    Michael

I could be way off here Washy but I'm sure people use pipe cutters for the ferrules, I'm sure I read a thread where they got one from B&Q, try doing a search on the forum you might find it.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Cheers for reply mate i can do them quite comfortably by hand, however i was in the the plumbing game and have an adjustable pipe cutter but i think this will be only useful for the depth of cut into shaft, however i will try this it may be easier than the hand method or quicker.

Thought that thread was a bit harsh and he could of sorted that issue out privately instead of trying to undermine your work.
If i may can i ask where you get your timber from as i am not to far away from sheffield ?

              Cheers Michael

before you start from scratch purchase some old bats of ebay (cheapies)and resplice them.in the past I worked for a local council and old school window openers were fantastic sources of good English ash.
