I've never owned a Woods cue but regularly service a few and they look to be quite decent. All spliced with real wood, no paint! As for being a decent starter cue, two of the lads I service them for are international pool players who can perform wonders with their Woods cues. Remember, its all down to ability not the cue!

All the Woods cues I've seen have had an oil finish, no varnish or lacquer like you often get with cheap Chinese cues. Id definitely consider buying one id ut wasn't for the fact that I've got several dozen decent playing cues already!

If you are paying less than £100 I doubt if its African ebony, They normally call it "Dark Ebony" or "Brown Ebony". All the Woods cues are genuine splices though and definitely not painted.
Personally I don't care what its made from its all about the way it plays. If its a nice playing shaft the butt can be made from Banana crates for all I care !

Yes, everybody speaks well of him here. Unfortunate, looks like he has pretty decent cues for the price point as well.

Yesterday, I won a bid on a woods one piece cue with case, mini butt, plus an extender. £ 76 including shipping to Sweden. I think this will be good. Thanks for all your posts, and your thoughts on these queues sold so on ebay.
So now I just hope is delivered in one piece :-)
          Regards/Ronnie

Does look nice that, may have to change the tip on it, then away you go

Could you let me know the balance point on the cue when it comes Ardvark , I bought one of these cheaper cues once, and although I loved it at the time I now realise all the weight was at the back end.

I have the same cue 3 star top of range but 58 inch 18oz 10mm tip and you
wont go far wrong with these in my opinion. Like JRC says just put a decent tip
on it. The shafts on these are as good as anything out there and they play
fantastic. You don't have to pay silly money like most people do this will play
as good as anything at a fraction of the cost of big name brand cues.

I have a 1 piece balanced at 17 inch and 3/4 balanced at 16 inch and in my
opinion these play as good as anything out there for a cheaper brand cue.
I have like most payed silly money for parris, Wooldridge etc etc and these
3 star cues play as good for me as anything out there.

Thanks for that Belld, 17 is exactly what my playing cue is now, so that's good for me, I might take a punt on one of these if the rest of my specs come up. Just looked at your other post, you have my specs exactly.

Well I've taken the plunge and bought a 3 star woods cue off cuedos on ebay at a very reasonable price. Not had it yet though the tip was too big so sent it straight to Andy travis to reduce the tip down to 8.75mm. Looking forward to playing with it actually looks great plus it's another cue to the collection will let you know how it plays once I've had few frames with it.

Does he sell cues direct on here or do you have to contact him through eBay ?
