In that case I would keep an eye on ebay then as you could easily get a very good usable cue and case for under £100.
for your budget I would be looking at craftsman and cue craft.
depending on your height you are best sticking to specs in the region of 9.5mm tip 57-58inch long 17-18oz weight.
I will throw a few links up after I have had a browse.

You've got to be very decent player to play with a 9.5mm tip imo.

just a few to give you an idea.

I've had a few custom/expensive cues and none have made me a better player :-)
i'm currently using an old 1 piece cue that I picked up for a tenner from ebay!

sorry that was suppose to read 9.5-10.. but even so I don't think 9.5 is too small, but I also play pool with a 8.7ish so my 9.5 feels larger.

This is one of the cues I bought last week.

It's very good for the price, I can't really compare to anything else as I've never had my own cue. But I would recommend one!

why would you think it would make any difference? in how many industries can you ever buy directly from the manufacturer? most cue makers actually want to move away from dealing with the public and sell everything through agents because the public are a pain!

so what you are saying is cuemakers think the public are a pain in the ar*e and because of this they sell their cues to agents which then are sold on for profit.

if they spend all their time answering emails and phone calls and dealing with customers who change their minds they would not get any actual cues made.

Well lucky them that they have grown so successful that they don't even need the publics money anymore.

you appear very bitter about what is a very logical step for everybody concerned? would you prefer cues were £3k each and you had to wait 5 years plus?

I think what annoys most people is these cue makers, and I'm not going to name names but certain ones are only selling cues to the asian market which is almost like sticking your two fingers up to the people in the very country you built your reputation on. Now they are quick to sell their sole to foreigners because they can make money far quicker that way.

You don't see agents selling cues for the UK buyers yet you see plenty of cues from certain UK based cue makers being sold from asian countries on Ebay. Why don't they sell to UK agents such as Stu Green, Craftsman, Coutts etc?

Not bitter just think it would be nice that our hard earned money is actually appreciated by the top cuemakers and not just another annoying customer asking for a cue to be made

Good post,it now feels that the top cuemakers feel they are doing us a favour rather then thinking thanks for choosing me to make your cue

i guess they will sell to the highest bidder but yes as you say uk based agents would make more sense but in reality the chinese market is where everything ends up anyway. for example lets say i have a trevor white cue that owes me £550 so I am happy to sell it in the uk for £600 in reality, I can stick it on ebay with a £795 ono offer and sell it for £750 to china, i will still end up with the same £600 after fees etc but the market now thinks the cue is worth £750.
