  • Genuine or Replica?

Young lad on pool team just bought this for £350
He was told it is about 80 years old and genuine by a guy who collects cues but knows nothing about them(trust me on that)
The cue has had a major taper job down to pool specs, infact it is like a knitting needle now. This explains why it looks like a brand new cue but it has had such a lot removed i would have thought the weight stamp should no longer be visible, also the badge looks too small compared to a genuine one.
On the plus side the cue plays superb still as i had a frame with it.
I know Tony Ions made a load of these and it may well be one of them in which case he has a cue made by one of the worlds best and would cost more than he paid for Tony to make a one nowadays.
Who else does replicas of this quality?and beleive me the craftmanship of this cue is top top quality.

        This looks good to me.
Shame about the badly rubbed down badge and the needle-taper, with that in mind maybe a bit less than mentioned above - what are the specs?
I know that people like T. Ions and T. Glover made replicas of the B&W Ye Olde Ash Cue but not come across a Burwat Champion Cue version.
        Anyone?

Looks similar to the TG on the left apart from the badge which is about 3/4 the size. That and the weight stamp still visible say replica to me.I told him i would have paid £120 max even if it was original.Who ever tapered it has taken way too much off it but fortunately it still plays great.
